103. Do You Love the Lord with All of Your Heart?

Loving someone with all of your heart is easier said than done. Jesus was asked about the most important commandment and made it simple for us. "You must love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength." He then added " second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these." (Mark 12:30-31). That's a tough commandment to live by.

The paragraph above is imperative to fully experiencing abundant life. It is simple and yet provides much challenge for all of us. Loving Him with all of my heart places us in a position of joy. What does this mean? I choose joy - for it is there REGARDLESS of my current circumstances. I choose to love Him with all my soul, mind and my strength. It is a choice when difficulties surround me. It was a choice for Rahab.

Rahab, in Joshua 2, lived in the Promised Land and assisted the Israelites in capturing the city and helping its people. This action of love saved her family and herself from the destruction soon to follow. Her many sins were forgiven because of her loving act. What about you? Are you ready to choose the relentless love of God as your focus?

Loving someone who is different than you can provide a challenge. Jesus provided modeling by loving everyone regardless of their appearance, demeanor or color of their skin. Can I challenge for you to do the same?
