74. 7 Weapons of Self-destruction

Pastor Rick Warren, quoting (often) from Romans, listed Satan's effective tools for self destruction. The first one is SHAME. All of us can immediately create images of our past where shame was prevalent. It can be being shamed of peers or something scarring. There are endless reasons why shame is so prevalent in our society.

UNCONTROLLED THOUGHTS are the second one. Romans 12:2 states "... be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." We can control our own thoughts, for we choose what we think.

The third one are COMPULSIONS. Ephesians 2:8 reminds "for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." God knows what's going on for you and through you - and still loves you! He is asking for your love!

FEAR is the fourth one to tackle. Isaiah 41:10; "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God..." There is much love through each written word of these verses.

The fifth one is HELPLESSNESS. How can you turn your thoughts to better ones? You can ask God; John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. HE WHO ABIDES IN ME AND I IN HIM BEARS MUCH FRUIT; for without Me you can do nothing." Through Him you can!

The sixth one is a tough one; BITTERNESS. It's like cancer. Bitterness is written in the old testament 44 times. 1 Samuel 1:10 wrote about bitterness of Hannah when she struggled with infertility "and she was in the bitterness of soul and prayed for the Lord and wept in anguish." She turned her bitterness into prayers and God filled her dream by childbearing. Recognize your bitter thoughts and turn them onto Him - He knows them already.

The seventh one is INSECURITY. Romans 8:9 "But you are not in the flesh but in the spirit, IF indeed the spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, he is not His." Through Him you are strong!

YOUR THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS ARE THROUGH THE LORD. DO NOT FEAR, ABIDE IN HIM ALONE, CAST OUT ALL BITTER THOUGHTS & BECOME FILLED WITH HIS LOVE!
