66. Does Your History Determine Your Destiny?

Does the history of poverty make you poor? Does surviving incest or sexual abuse make you an abuser? What about having to watch your mom getting beat up or being hit, does this make you a hitter of someone who is weaker, smaller and younger? Those are abrasive words to write and to read. We model behavior!

I messed up when I was much younger. The part I messed up with was the reality that instead of talking about what happened I shut down, quit crying and just withdrew. The hurts were evident when someone paid attention; I wet my bed and had a fractured jaw from sexual abuse, and pulled some of my hair out and dug holes into my scalp with fingernails. I never learned the words to explain what the issue was (less than 6 years). I was determined to hurt myself and not others. That was a picture of an implosion. The hurt, the confusion and the inner rage was deep. I focused on school and horseback riding instead. That changed to partying and alcohol as I grew. Inner healing occurred much later in life.

You know the saying I use a lot; hurting people hurt people? If you have been hurt and lack skills to communicate your feelings, hurting others out of your own rage is much more likely. The way you live out your history determines your destiny! Please note; You have a choice to make; to hurt yourself or others out of your own hurts or to receive help so the hurts you suffered will not go down through generations. Hurting can stop with you with steps taken in inner healing for yourself! You no longer need to hurt yourself or others.

Jeremiah 29:11 states "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you future and a hope." The Lord feels great love and has good thoughts toward you. Your history does not need to determine your destiny! Your destiny from this moment onward is what you set it out to be. If you wrap yourself in the protection and the Fatherly love by reading and living in the promise of Psalm 91, your destiny will be protected. You'll only see the reward of the wicked! Revelation 21:4 also assures your blessed destiny "and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Your history truly doesn't need to model your current behavior. Each has a choice to make Be blessed, warrior bride of the King! Please mark 'like' if you liked this post and share!
