59. How Does Your Commitment Shape Your Life?
Commitments shape lives in multitudes of ways. My uncle is an avid artist. He creates paintings, sculptures and various art pieces from small to massive. It has defined him and his wife's lives. Their home is opened for tours for its uniqueness. His wife of 50 years remains busy serving the visitors and proving tours for them.
How would you like to be defined? What do you want people to say about you when your time has ended? What do you want your children, your family or your friends to say? Where do you want to go to when your time is finished in this world? We cannot take anything with us, after all; Job 1:21 "... naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there."
You have a choice to make about your present and your future. The past is past. The present time is the time you have and the future is coming. If you would like to leave a memory; a legacy for your family, what would it look like? Proverbs 13:22 "a good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for righteous."
Warning: Maybe a story of your life would be told in a serious tone; s/he was the person who dealt with fear all their lives and never got rid of it - or s/he was the angry person and died because of it? Or s/he had a chronic disease and it just stopped him/her?
You have only one life to live. Deal with fears, receive support, deal with the roots of your anger and do not let obstacles of life stop you from going forward! Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 "Be strong and bold, do not fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your god who goes before you. He will be with you, will not fail you or forsake you. Doe not fear or be dismayed." Even better, model the spirit of an over-comer among your family and friends. That's a legacy to live for!
