49. Do You Fear Rejection?

When we moved to a new home, our new neighbor hated my dog, a well trained therapy dog I use for my work. Kramer went through two severe poisoning episodes the same summer. It was rat-poison; pebbles of poison he devoured while leashed during pee breaks. Unexpected and unwanted rejection. Police was called and yet as I did not take photographs of the neighbor spreading rat poison (saw it), nothing could be done. It was a summer with high vet bills. This certainly was a rejection of him; in a sense of us all. You understand, for you have likely been somewhere, facing rejection as well. Different circumstances, similar dilemma.

Regarding rejection, Paul Keith Davis stated, in Prophetic word July 17/18 "you can see things as they appear or you can see things as they are. We are not supposed to be groping in the darkness and figuring out what's going on." I sure wanted to fiercely protect my dog! At the same time I understood there has to be a reason. There was. I chose not to retaliate at all. The neighbor was in a legal battle with many neighbors and lost. Proverbs 11:17 "the merciful man does good for his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh." The same neighbors are now rejected and distrusted for their actions; a high price for them to pay. Kramer remained alive and continues to be loved by all other neighbors.

The last two paragraphs were examples of something easy to write about. Your experiences are likely much more difficult. How was it for you? What have you survived? Loss through death, illness or injury, perhaps a separation, divorce, end of income, rejection - through a team or college or being fired? Isolation, rejection, withdrawal, loneliness. Been there. Daniel 2:22 "He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." What I held onto in those dark moments of rejection was the Lord's endless grace and mercy. It is there for you as well. God's mercy is bigger and greater than any mistakes you have made! Ephesians 2:4-5 "but God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ." Regardless of where you are at right now, He is there for you, in you and through you. All is needed is for you to ask Him. You are not alone. You never were. The challenge is to simply trust Him when you don't understand. Just turn to Him.

Do you fear rejection? When you are down in the dumps and feeling worn and alienated, that is the ultimate time to reach for the Father. He urges to "trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths," Proverbs 3:5-6. You can do it through the Father's power operating in you! Obstacles can be overcome through the strength in and through you, warrior! Joel assures in verses 2:25-26 "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. ..." He promises restoration if you "turn to Me with all your heart...," Joel 2:12. The Father will never reject you!

Elisabeth Elliot, Devotionals Daily (14092018) wrote "every experience, even the most unwelcome, if offered to Jesus, can become your gateway to joy." Deep learning occurs on each stage you go through. Was it resilience, patience, humbleness or perhaps openness the Father wanted you to learn? There is a reason, unknown to us. Ponder this awhile.
