44. What Are Your Inheritance Words?

What are your inheritance words? Inheritance, as I think of it, is some kind of material riches in the world. Material riches increase power in the world. Riches are desired and dreamed of. The media increased the desire for material possessions. Yet, suicides are often reported among the rich and famous. Money, simply, doesn't bring happiness.

Have you discovered your inheritance? In God's economy inheritance has a different meaning. It's heaven's economy. Jesus modeled to us all about the passing of material riches as we cannot take them with us. The inheritance you receive from Him is eternal and is in Him. It is life altering. He can shape you like a potter's wheel. You will be re-melted, shaped by His Divine hand and made into the shape He desires. It hurts to be shaped! Every part of the shaping refines you to be in Kingdom business. Pastor Rick Warren wrote, in one of his blogs "the secret of contentment is finding your security and satisfaction in NOT what you have but WHOSE you are." What does this mean?

Life is full of sudden events. Something happens just when you think you know your inheritance and your calling. Sudden unexpected loss of a job, an accident or an illness, separation or a divorce, loss of a parent or a loved one. You are in the potter's wheel and simply bewildered. The enemy will fight against your calling. The bigger the calling the Father has for you, the more intense the fight is against it. Has this happened to you? The Father assures in Deuteronomy 31:9 "He will be with you, He will not leave nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." Josh 1:9 encourages "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord you God is with you wherever you go." You are comforted in Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" The inheritance may not feel good at times. 1 John 5:4 strengthens "for whoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith." Faith allows you to receive your inheritance. Faith can move mountains! You are strong through and in Him! Just keep on doing the Father's business and filling the inheritance He gave!

What I learned through the process is to trust. I had a battle on between good and evil. Battle between two extremes. One was anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, self-pity topped with false pride. The other was joy, peace, love, hope and serenity. The world led me to the first, negative battle and the second one was the one the Lord encouraged to adopt. That was the inheritance He provides for you and for us all. I simply learned to trust. What about you? Have you gone through a path of painful challenges? Are ready to trust?

My comfort words are in John 16:33 "...In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." It isn't easy. The eternal rewards are indescribable! Just imagine the eternal victory; life in heaven with our Savior! You can go through it, warrior!
