29. Hurting? Difficult to release the past pain?

How often are you caught unaware? Are you often surprised by the inner pain that rises up, suddenly, unexpectedly? Do you find yourself trying to avoid thinking of the past while it suddenly catches you, unaware? Where does your mind wonder to when you are alone; traveling, walking, doing mundane tasks? Have you been there or are you there now?

I found myself in this position. Many of us have visual memories and I am one of them. During the visual memories my mind saw danger during times when there was none - and threats when safety was present. I didn't see it as safe on a personal level until later. That time came after choosing to focus on my own mindset. Being able to choose to focus on mindset requires healing and self-awareness.

I also chose to focus on what the Holy Spirit gave me repeatedly. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." What about you? Is it difficult to trust in the Lord with all your heart, especially when life gets in the way? What is it like to not lean on your own understanding? Does you pride come in the forefront? Mine sure did. Do you acknowledge Him in all your ways? Life gets in the way again, huh.

The most important part of the verse discussed is the end of it. It is: He shall direct your paths. That's where you and I need to choose how to respond to issues of life. I shortened this verse to suit me in an emergency. When fear arose, I repeatedly spoke "I trust You Lord." Those powerful words are incredible tools against the enemy.

Can you think and form fighting words against the enemy when past memories flood you? It truly is wise to share your pain with someone trusted in order to begin the stage of healing if that hasn't yet happened. Please connect for confidential counselling. The initial session is complimentary. If this is the case, the Holy Spirit will lead you to this stage when ready.

Be blessed, beautiful child of God!
