24. How does your past affect your life today?

Picture a group of children playing on a playground. Few are swinging high on the swings, some others are pushing them. Many are running around, chasing or being chased, or climbing on the equipment. Some are digging in the sand or just simply chatting and spending time with one another. Yet there is one who is standing to the side, alone. There also is another one sitting alone at the utmost edge of the playground.

Put yourself in the created picture. Could you see yourself in the playground described? Which child could you imagine being in the picture? Would you be the one playing or the one pulled away from others, isolated and alone? This image hurts many in its picture of loneliness.

Your life experiences have a profound effect on your demeanor, perspective, attitude and your response to yourself and others about the life you live. The painful part to accept in the image just described is the reality that if your imagined behavior of being a child there was that of a withdrawn one, it takes focus and acceptance to re-learn the skills to be included and accepted as an adult. Yet it hurts to be alone and isolated. Been there.

In addition, there are many diseases that occur as a result of loneliness and isolation from others. The common diagnosed diseases in your life can also have the roots of separation from the one who created you. The Creator truly is an ultimate healer of your inward and outward body. It takes obedience to the Lord and responsibility of yourself to heal. These scriptures in the Bible provide clarification: Matthew 6:15 "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. " Forgiveness and confession. Have you met His conditions? The Bible is filled with many others. If isolation and lack of connection are issues you can identify with, you can choose to acknowledge and to heal. The choice to heal is truly is within you.
