144. The Antidote for Pride
According to Seeds of Kingdom (Jan 30, 2020), "one of the pitfalls of human beings is pride, that sense of thinking of yourself more highly than you ought." We, as humans have fought pride since the fall written in Genesis. We take pride in who we are, what we are, what financial status we have attained, what home we live in, what education we have, how many children we have, what friends we have, what we look like ...
God told Israelis they are His treasured possessions. They were not this because they attained anything. They are that because of His love. He warned NOT to take pride in their possessions and thus forget their God (Deuteronomy 8:11-18).
We often fall into the trap of the enemy by taking pride in our achievements and possessions. Bible warns we have to take the lens back from ourselves to the one true source of our lives; the Creator God. C.S. Lewis stated, "humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less."
Wake up calls occur in a different manner; ours occurred as we learned how to serve and listened to the plight of homeless and cold on the city streets and realized just how our possessions are a gift from and through Him and Him only.
Lord, thank you for the gift of life you have given. Thank you for Your love, Your mercy, Your patient endurance as I grow further to understand and love you. You are a faithful, loving Father.
Blessings, warrior woman!
